Laboratory/Specialty Overview
We manufacture a complete line of laboratory and pilot equipment for cast film, blown film, tubing, sheet, coating, fiber, compounding, elastomer, and fine wire applications. This includes the Killion and Betol product lines. We supply everything from extruders, feedscrews, and control systems to chill rolls, roll stacks, sheet take-offs, winders, and payoffs. We also manufacture auxiliary equipment to complement laboratory and production-size systems.
Extruders
HPE-Horizontal Extruders

Benchtop Extruders
These Killion brand extruders are designed for mobility and operation with different tooling sets and downstream equipment.
Equipment Options
Grooved feed throats, vented barrels and other options can be fitted to extruders. Melt pumps and screw mixing devices available for specialized applications. Computer monitor and SCADA/LIMS systems are available.
Specialty Systems
The laboratory equipment needs of research-and-development labs differ greatly from the needs of large-scale operations. Accordingly, Davis-Standard Killion designs and manufactures a complete range of high-precision equipment for small laboratory and pilot production environments.
Converting (Cast Film, Coating, and Laminating)
We are specialists in flouropolymers and engineering polymers for these applications.
Sheet
Capabilities for up to seven layers are available including high PLI units, vertical, horizontal, orbital and rotating roll stacks.
Fiber Mono Filament
Bi-component lines are available for variety of mono filament applications.
Custom Solutions
We design and manufacture equipment and extruders for special applications and process parameters.
Wire
Special systems are available for ultra fine wire and engineering polymers.
Killion Laboratory Systems
Our laboratory systems serve the diverse technology needs of plastics processors who require lab technology for small runs, product development and trials. Whether it’s the turnkey delivery of a seven-component narrow web lamination line — or a special extruder for an OEM — Davis-Standard product specialists design and build custom hybrid solutions. We incorporating the distinct process expertise needed for each application, and can supply dedicated all-in-one lines or modular line components.
Blown Film
Mono and multi-layer systems are available with lay flat widths down to 1 inch (25mm).
Sheet and Laminating
These lab systems come in widths from 1 inch to 39 inches (25 to 990mm) for a thickness range of 0.008 to 0.16 inches (0.2 to 4mm).
Cast Film and Coating
Modules are available for most coating and cast film processes.
Pelletizing
Single screw compounding systems are capable of a few grams to 150 lbs. (68 kg) per hour.
Tube and Wire
Fiber
Mono and multi-filament lines are available based on ¾-inch (19mm) and 1-inch (25mm) extruders.
Quality Control
In the area of quality control, we offer equipment for filterability testing, gel inspection, color dispersion, and resin sampling film lines.
